Karine Gilanyan
Karine Gilanyan was born into a family of musicians (in Yerevan, Armenia). From 1987 to 1998 Gilanyan studied with N. Agoronyan at the music school for gifted children named after P.Tchaikovsky, Yerevan, which she graduated with honors. The same year Gilanyan was accepted to Yerevan State Conservatory to study with Prof. Igor Yavryan. Karine Gilanyan received masters degree with honors and was recommended by the Commission of the Poste-Graduate course as Piano Soloist, where she received her diploma in 2005. In 2004, the young pianist began her studies at the Musikhochschule in Lübeck, with Prof. James Tocco and Prof. Jacob Leuschner. There Gilanyan was awarded the DAAD scholarschip.
During her studies Karine took part in several master classes Prof. Mattias Weber, Prof. Volker Banfield, Jeremy Menuhin, Ilana Vered, Eitan Globerson, Michael Lewin; Chamber Music - Prof. Maria Egelhof, Prof. Rainer Moog, Marie Hallyng, Prof. Gustav Rivinius; accompaniment – Prof. Wolfram Rieger and Prof. Inge-Susanne Röhmhild.
In 1995 Karine got a Diploma at the "Amadeus" National Competition for Young Talents and in 2010 she received a Diploma in the "Chopin Roma" International Competition in Rome, Italy. Gilanyan has performed at festivals such as "Sommercampus Rostock" (Germany), "Pablo Casals Festival" (Prades, France), "Music Fest Perugia" (Italy), "Modern Music Festival" (Yerevan, Armenia), "Monbijou Festival" ( Berlin, Germany).
The range of styles Gilanyan plays is very large, from Bach to Ligeti, composers of Classic, Romantics and Impressionists. In Armenia Karine has premiered several works of Alfred Schnittke, Görgy Ligeti as well as modern Armenian composers in Europe. Gilanyan appeared as a soloist and chamber music member in various cities of Armenia, Hungary, Italy, France and Germany. Karine Gilanyan has performed with the Chamber Orchestra "Solisti di Perugia" and the Philharmonic Orchestra of Armenia.
Since 2011 Gilanyan holds a lectureship at the Academy of Music Hanns Eisler Berlin. In 2012 Gilanyan received “Komitas Medal” and since 2013 she is the Artistic Director of Komitas Festival in Proetzel, near Berlin.
