Open call for professional and semi-professional Armenian composers and DJ’s for Sounds of Sevan project

Sounds of Sevan

Music of Armenia is delighted to announce an open call to professional and semi-professional Armenian composers and DJ’s of electronic music, residing in or outside of Armenia. The winning composer/DJ will compose a 5-minute-long piece using sounds and recordings made in and around Lake Sevan. Music of Armenia's team has already made the audio recordings, which will be provided to the winning musician to compose the music. The final composition made by the winning composer/DJ must be ready by August 2018 and it will then be used to create an audio-visual installation and a music video.

Sounds of Seven advocates cooperation between musicians and visual artists as a way of promoting innovation and cross-disciplinary collaboration, while giving birth to new partnerships in unconventional settings. Sounds of Seven aims to embrace tradition while laying new paths as it portrays culture in dialogue with nature, at the same time creating awareness about art and the environment; and their impact on society as a whole.

Terms and conditions:
• Open to professional and semi-professional Armenian composers and DJ’s residing in or outside of Armenia.
• Genres:
 Electronic, ambient, alternative.
• Only one composer will be selected.
• The winner will be awarded with prize money. 

Final product:
• Composition length: a minimum of 5 minutes.
• The composition must be ready by the end of August.
• Only original work will be accepted. Usage of other copyrighted materials is forbidden and will result in disqualification.

Interested candidates should send a link to their work in the form of audio or video on YouTube or Soundcloud.
Please clearly identify your name and place of residence in the application email.

Important dates:
Deadline for submitting examples of your work is 27 July 2018. Late submissions will not be accepted.
The result of this call will be announced on 31 August 2018.
