Nvart Andreassian was born in İstanbul. She got her first musical education in Istanbul with the Armenian composer and pianist, Koharik Gazarosyan and with Anahit Hanesyan.
Throughout her musical education as a conductor for choir and orchestra, she studied with Herman Terteryan at the Erevan State Conservatory. And at the age of 17 she received complementary musical education with Kohar Kasparyan and Hovannes Tchekidjian.
Later in Europe, she studied with Pierre Dervaux and Jean Fournet at Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris and then with Edward Downes, Pierre Boulez, and Peter Ötvos and Sergiu Celibidache. As a result of her studies with Pierre Dervaux and Pierre Boulez, Andreassian is an expert interpreter of contemporary music.
Andreassian has been the assistant conductor of Christophe von Dohnany in Paris Grand Opera and of Daniel Barenboim in Orchestre de Paris. She received awards in Besançon International Young Conductors Competition (France) and the Yehudi Menuhin Competition (United Kingdom) in 1979.
During 20 years, she has been the artistic director of the Polychromy Contemporary Arts Festival and the conductor of the French contemporary music Ensemble Polychromie. She worked as a choir and orchestra conductor and lecturer at the National Conservatory of Lille (France). Having symphonic works and classical operas in her extensive repertoire, Andreassian also contributed to the advancement of contemporary music. With Ensemble Polychromie, she has conducted the premieres of more than 300 new compositions.
Andreassian has worked as the music director Tianjin Symphony Orchestra (China). She has been the music director of Armenian National Opera and associate conductor of the Perm State Opera and Ballet Theater (Russia).
Among the orchestras that she worked with as a guest conductor are: Tianjin Symphony Orchestra (China), China National Orchestra (China), Orchestra National de Lille (France), Hilversum Radio Symphony Orchestra (Netherlands), Porto Alegre Symphony Orchestra (Brazil), Yaroslavl Symphony Orchestra (Russia), Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra, Moscow Contemporary Music Ensemble, Russian State Symphony Orchestra, and Cappella, Perm State Opera (Russia), Armenian State Opera and Ballet, Moscow “Stanislavsky” Opera, Orchestre National de L’Ile de France, Orchestre de Metz (France), Ensemble of Studio New Music of the Moscow State Conservatory, Janacek Philharmonic Orchestra, Armenian-Turkish Youth Symphony Orchestra, Hacettepe University Youth Symphony Orchestra, Istanbul Adnan Saygun Chamber Orchestra, Istanbul State Conservatory Opera Studio, Istanbul State Symphony Orchestra, Bursa State Symphony Orchestra(Turkey).
Since 1996, Andreassian has been facilitating workshops on “Interpretation Art of Contemporary Music” in Erevan State Komitas Conservatory, Moscow Tchaikovsky State Conservatory, Istanbul Mimar Sinan State Conservatory, Beijing State Central Conservatory, Tianjin State Conservatory (China).
