Music of Armenia | Atken Armenian Foundation Fellowship for Young Girls in Music
Music of Armenia is delighted to announce an open call for Music of Armenia | Atken Armenian Foundation Fellowship for Young Girls in Music. The fellowships will be given to two talented and aspiring young girls within the frameworks of ‘Women’s Musical Month’.
‘Women’s Musical Month’ is Music of Armenia’s brand new initiative, which will launch on 8th March and close on 7th April 2018. The project is a month-long celebration dedicated to female Armenian musicians and their music.
Terms and conditions:
Open to girls residing in Armenia, Artsakh and Javakhk (Georgia). Applicants must be at least 12 but not over 17 on 8th March 2018.
Classical music - instrument or voice
Folk music - instrument or voice
Must demonstrate exceptional potential, work ethic, an innate musical talent and be willing to travel regularly, as determined by the audition committee, for advanced music training with a selected specialist in Armenia. The fellowship covers all travel costs and tuition for 12 months.
A preliminary audition will be done via video recording (possibility of a second round of live auditions via Skype). An international independent jury from Canada will adjudicate the Classical music competition, and a jury from Armenia will adjudicate the Folk music competition. One Fellow will be selected for each category.
Interested candidates must:
1. Send a private or public video link (YouTube) of a live, unedited performance of 2 contrasting works (or movements) of your choice from the standard repertoire. Performance may be accompanied by the piano. The total duration of recording(s) should be between 6 minutes and 20 minutes. Send the link(s) of your recording to both Music of Armenia at firstname.lastname@example.org and Atken Armenian Foundation at email@example.com. Clearly identify your name, age, and place of residence in the video title. If you do not receive an acknowledgment of receipt from us within 24 hours, please send us an email to the above addresses provided without any links to receive further instructions.
2. Include one paragraph about yourself, your musical aspirations and music education.
3. Scans or clear photos of your birth certificate and proof of residence.
Deadline for submitting the recording(s) and required information and documents is 8th March 2018.
No applications will be accepted after the deadline.
The result will be announced on 7th April 2018 at the closing concert of 'Women’s Musical Month' project.
The winners of Music of Armenia | Atken Armenian Foundation Fellowship for Young Girls in Music will participate in a concert during the 2019 Women’s Musical Month.
