Violinist Karen Aroutiounian graduated from Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory, in the class of Professor Hrachya Bogdanyan, he then studied at the Moscow P. Tchaikovsky State Conservatory, where he completed his postgraduate studies in the class of Professor Leonid Kogan.
Aroutiounian is the winner of the many international competitions and has performed in several concerts in the former Soviet Union, as well as on the world-famous stages of Europe, in countries such as Hungary, Germany, Austria, Spain, Italy, Belgium, France, etc. Aroutiounian has performed with such renowned conductors as M.D.Shostakovich, G.Rozhdestvensky, Valery Gergiev, and A.Dimitriadi P.Lile.
Karen Aroutiounian has held numerous concerts and made recordings with the Chamber Ensemble of Armenia, which was founded in 1989. In December 1989, during a tour in Belgium, where by the decision of the City Hall and the Brussels Senate, Aroutiounian was awarded the title of honorary citizen. All profits from the concert was assigned to the victims of the 1988 Armenian earthquake.
In 1993, at the invitation of the Brussels Royal Conservatory, Aroutiounian travels to Belgium, where he still lives. He is a professor at the Brussels Royal Conservatory of Liège and at the same time, he is a visiting professor at the National Conservatory of Nice and Monaco.
Karen Aroutiounian continues intensive concert activity and has numerous recordings. Aroutiounian acts with a number of charity concerts in support of Armenian educational institutions based in Europe. His concert activities contribute greatly to the promotion of classical and contemporary Armenian composers. Aroutiounian has repeatedly organized concerts of young and talented Armenian musicians in Europe.
